Dec. 21, 2010 - PRLog -- Avandia, also known as Rosiglitazone Maleate, is a drug created by Glaxo Smith Kline for the treatment of Type 2 Diabetes in adults. This drug is used to help stabilize the blood sugar levels in diabetic patients and has been in use since 1998 when the drug was approved. As of late, however, Avandia has come under aggressive review by the Federal Drug Admin. because of numerous Avandia lawsuits, reports of heart trouble, strokes, respiratory issues and even death in some Avandia patients. The lawsuits report the drug manufacturer, Glaxo Smith Kline, had prior knowledge of potential Avandia side effects but did not divulge the information to patients, physicians, or the FDA.

Avandia side-effects can include, but are not limited to, upper respiratory infections, back and/or joint pain, and headaches. Other more serious side effects include difficulty breathing, rapid weight increase and diminished vision.

Those taking Avandia are advised to use the drug under strict physician supervision and with the utmost of care. Avandia side effects are certainly real possibilities and should be treated as such.
