| A Delightful DECANTER New Year's Eve Dining ExperienceRing in the New Year at Decanter Restaurant and Wine Lounge in Dallas. Just opening its doors this week, Decanter is envisioned to create a warm, welcoming atomosphere with an ever-changing menu of unique wines and American-California cuisine.
DALLAS, TX -- When the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Eve, popular Dallas Chef Tony Gardizi will be doing something he loves to do – creating culinary masterpieces. This year, however, the Sicily-born cooking visionary will toast in 2011 with a different flair and in a different location. After months of anticipation, Gardizi will finally have the opportunity to display his diversified food preparation skills at Decanter Restaurant and Wine Lounge. The restaurant, which opens today and will feature American-California cuisine, is located in the space previously occupied by Café Madrid in the Bishop Arts District near the Oak Cliff area of Dallas. “We’ve waited a long time to open the doors to Decanter and the time has finally come,” Gardizi says. “I’m excited to start the New Year at Decanter and hope the community will come out to join us to help us celebrate.” Decanter is offering a New Year’s Eve four-course prix-fixe meal with a special champagne toast at midnight. The cost is $40 per person. “We’ll have live jazz music. It should be a lot of fun,” Gardizi adds. The regular Decanter menu will appeal to both non-vegetarians and vegetarians with dishes such as seared Ahi Tuna, organic baby spinach salad and pesto chicken flatbread. Meals on the menu, which range from $6 to $22, will be prepared with as many local, fresh ingredients as possible, Gardizi boasts, and will change monthly. An extensive wine list will offer up to 30 wines by the glass, 155 wines by the bottle and an ever-changing daily menu of wine by the carafe. “It’s going to be the place to hang out without worrying about the normal ‘stuffiness’ Raised in Austria, the 37-year-old Gardizi received his culinary training in Europe and has been a standout in the local community for about two decades. Known for his creative energy in the kitchen, Gardizi has proven his culinary creativity in cooking and consulting at such popular eateries such as Stephen Pyles and The Riviera. He is also an advocate for several charities and non-profit organizations including Texas Scottish Rites Hospital and the North Texas Battered Women’s Shelter. Gardizi will retain his position as Executive Chef of Decanter’s sister concept, Capriccio Ristorante in North Dallas, where he has worked for the past year.
