Jan. 3, 2011 - PRLog -- While new challengers such as Spotify have managed to grow in popularity in Europe, digital downloads both there and in the US have been dominated by Apple. The latest figures all concur that they have over 70% market share of digital downloads. As such TMM - http://www.themusicmagazine.co.uk - asked music lovers what they would most like Steve Jobs to announce in his upcoming keynote this month. The main results are as follows:

1) 86% of people want a price match with Amazon’s services.
2) 71% of people want Apple to reduce the restrictions on variable song and album pricing.
3) 57% of people are unconcerned about easier integration with third party services.

It can be seen quite clearly then that people are less concerned about proprietary technology issues as they are about simply not getting ripped off. However, the two issues blend together. The marketing of Apple's iTunes service and of course the iPod has left it with a monopoly. As such it has been able to set its own pricing policy, rather than that of a record label or an artist.

This seemed to come to a head when Apple was rumoured to have pressured labels who participated in the Amazon daily deals scheme. Though rumours around this have died down, fans are still asking for a better deal from Apple.
