Follow on Google News | For Seahawks, 7-9 means never having to say sorryRENTON ?The satirical fake-news outlet, The Onion, has taken two potshots at them in the past two weeks. The New York Times called them the worst playoff team in the history of the NFL. And they might be right.
By: Jessica Ever. At all. Seriously. Just listen to quarterback Matt Hasselbeck. "Apologize to who?" he quipped Thursday, asked about the notion that Seattle owes an apology to, uhh, well?/p> "I've got nothing to apologize for." It's an interesting thought. When teams like the Giants and Buccaneers (both 10-6) head for their vacation homes in Week 18 instead of gearing up for a playoff game, the question is worth asking. But honestly, what are the Seahawks going to say? Thanks, but we don't deserve it? "We're 0-0 right now," Hasselbeck said, interrupting a question as soon as the Seahawks' 7-9 record was mentioned. "That's where my head's at." It's a thought that has taken hold throughout the team's locker room. Like it or not, Seattle's regular-season record doesn't give the Saints any advantage this week. New Orleans won't be spotted any points because the Seahawks are 7-9. Seattle won't be forced to play shorthanded because it finished 7-9. Heck, it's the Saints who have to make the trip. And there will be no apologies when they arrive. "We're in the playoffs," safety Lawyer Milloy stated bluntly, asked about the lack of pressure surrounding them. And it's almost as if Seahawks fans have felt the past few days that they have to make a concerted effort to actually be excited to watch their team in the playoffs, a notion almost as bizarre as the team's season. You could feel the same vibe last week, when some fans actually debated whether Seattle would be better off losing to the Rams, missing the playoffs and securing a higher daft pick. Seattle coach Pete Carroll scoffed at that idea, naturally, and he should have. And Qwest Field was full, loud, rolling. The fans, some of them begrudgingly, came around. That process is well underway this week, as blogs and message boards feature more and more comments about why the Seahawks aren't going to be pushovers on Saturday. New Orleans is traveling across the country, they say. It'll be cold. It might snow. Chris Ivory and Pierre Thomas are both out with injuries. Seattle played well against them earlier in the season. And, hey, if the Washington Huskies could win the Holiday Bowl over the same Nebraska team that destroyed them earlier in the season, why can't the Seahawks beat a Saints team that has never won a road playoff game? Well, plenty of reasons. New Orleans actually had a better record on the road than at home this season, going 6-2. Drew Brees is one of the best quarterbacks in the league, and threw for 382 yards against the Seahawks on Nov. 21. They still have Reggie Bush, despite their injuries at running back. Seattle couldn't score in the red zone in the first meeting. And, quite simply, the Saints are the defending Super Bowl champions and the more talented team. But that doesn't mean Seattle is humbled by the privilege of facing them in the playoffs. Carroll isn't even using the underdog card to motivate his playuers. Mainly because they don't need it. Brees was asked about the Saints having a target on their backs, then rattled off each NFC playoff team, along with reasons why each of them are dangerous. "Any of those teams, we are all sitting here thinking that we have a shot," he said. "We are all the hunters right now." Even the Seahawks, who have been the prey more often than not. read more :http://www.coachpursescoupons.com # # # You can find the right power balance wristband and brand shoes in a cheap price, the shipping is free for you and you can save more if you order more End
