Entertainment Artists Release Sugandh Family Music Album as Fundraiser for Breast Cancer Research

Jan. 8, 2011 - PRLog -- With music in every vein, the Sugandh family announces the digital launch of their much anticipated self-titled album in tribute to the spirit and philosophy of Geeta Sugandh, the mother of the fabulous family.  The album consists of 8 tracks each spotlighting the award winning vocals of one of the family members.  Produced by India's Jay-Z (T-Rind) in Mumbai, India, the album features tracks written by Bhavdeep Jaipurwala and recorded by Henry Moniz.  Percussion for the album featured Taufiq Qureshi.  Pre-release reviews by both American and Indian critics and DJ's have been full of praise for the blend of poetic and contemporary light ghazal multi-lingual tracks that clearly highlight the depth of talent in the Sugandh family.

The all-India Press Corp noted that "Music connoisseurs and those new to this style of music will all enjoy this album.  Even without the honor of knowing that all proceeds are going to support cancer research, this is sure to be a best seller...".  A review in Rockin' summarizes the album as, "The best Indian sound we have heard in a decade".

The Sugandh family is an American-based bi-coastal family that has been performing on the stage, on radio and tv, and on the big screen since 1983.  With over 800 concerts under their belt, their performances have thrilled thousands and instilled a love for their shows internationally.  This was always the goal of the matriarch of the family, Geeta Sugandh.  Her life was focused on "family and music".  This album's release is timed to her birthday as that was always her favorite family and music time.  She passed away in late 2008 after a valiant fight against breast cancer during which she never swayed from her principled life of love for family and music.

The Sugandh family has announced that all proceeds from this album will be donated to support breast cancer research.  They know that the inspiration of their mother will never be forgotten and they hope that here love of music will continue to do good for the world in support of the global fight against cancer.

About the Sugandh Family:

Geeta, a marketing professional, had her first public debut as a singer on All India Radio, Bombay. Her mastery of ghazal renditions is accentuated by her uniquely scintillating tone, purposeful voice, and perfect diction.

Kanhaiya is a Senior Professor. His deep voice, witty banter, and a happy heart add entertainment to the art of his wife and two beautiful, highly talented daughters, Seema and Tina.

Seema graduated from Rutgers University with a BS in Exercise Physiology. Her vocal chords produce a sweet and magnificently wholesome voice. Her performance is frequently rewarded with thunderous applause.

Tina, who graduated from Rutgers University with high honors with a BS in Biology after only three years, works magic with her tabla. Her singing voice is wholesomely powerful. The two sisters have pleasantly surprised many audiences.

On Dec 3rd, our beloved ray of sunshine, Geeta Sugandh, passed away. She was 55. Amazingly, mom remained smiley, positive, and radiant throughout her battle with cancer. She is the most genuine and inspirational woman we will ever know. She has inspired so many with her lessons of family togetherness, positivity, staying healthy and active, and unconditional love. Her heart was bigger than an ocean, her eyes sparkled, and her smile brightened up the world.

She passed peacefully in her place of perfection, the arms of her soul mate, Kanaiya Sugandh.  Geeta and Kanaiya are the epitome of true love. They did not spend a minute apart and could not experience true joy without the presence of one another. There are really no words to describe a love as pure and genuine as theirs. At 6:20am, on Dec 3rd, Dad found the courage to begin to tell Ma that although he can not be happy without her, he was going to try to be okay, and that she could relax. Once he stopped talking, her breathing immediately began to slow down and she passed away 60 seconds later, at 6:26am.

Our radiant mother, that touched so many, lives on in all of us. Her valuable lessons will be treasured and we will strive to spread as much beauty, happiness, and positivity in the world as she did.  The loss of a beautiful woman whose radiance touched all of us.
