Jan. 20, 2011 - PRLog -- Herndon, Va. — Personal property appraisers from around the country will meet in Chicago March 31st for a 3-Day Symposium covering Insurance Appraisals and Fair Value. This conference will provide guidance to appraisers on what they need to do to be in compliance with assignments that come under the jurisdiction of the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB). Speakers at this dynamic symposium include insurance industry leaders, veteran appraisers and conservators.

The symposium will kick off with the Insurance Appraisal Forum on Thursday, March 31st. Appraisers who perform insurance appraisals should come meet the industry leaders at this focused study day. Participants will learn what every appraiser should know about how appraisals are evaluated by insurance companies for both property coverage and damage and loss claims.

Fair Value for Personal Property premieres Friday and Saturday, April 1st and 2nd. This new class provides personal property appraisers with the “how-tos” for preparing an appraisal for financial reporting assignments.     The course explains how personal property appraisers must now use “Fair Value” in work for business, and will focus on methods of using “Fair Value” that come under the jurisdiction of the Financial Accounting Standards Board and comply with Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) requirements

“Keeping up-to-date with changes in the profession is not optional,” says Sandra J. Tropper, ASA, who is Program Chairman for the Symposium. “The goal is to offer practical information that will be of immediate use.”
