We wish to assure that the money will be put to good use and will be utilized by THUDITSSIA to construct a training hall in Thoothukudi for budding entrepreneurs. As a token of appreciation and gratitude to Sterlite, we have decided to name the training facility as ‘Sterlite Training Hall’. This facility will be of immense help to THUDITSSIA for imparting training to budding entrepreneurs who are eager to open up businesses of their own.” THUDITSSIA is the recognised industrial body in Thoothukudi District representing tiny and small scale industries. It has representation in various government bodies like Central Excise, Sales Tax, Local Planning Authority, TNEB and SIDCO. The charter of duties of THUDITSSIA include promoting small scale industries, grooming aspiring entrepreneurs, helping out with finances for setting up new units and representing the concerns of the small scale industries to the Government. THUDITSSIA also conducts regular training programmes for established as well as aspiring entrepreneurs and disseminates latest information on government policies, technological advances and business practices. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ramesh Nair, said, “Sterlite Copper is happy to sponsor the training facility for THUDITSSIA. Sterlite is one of the major industries in Thoothukudi, and many small scale industries partner with us as suppliers, customers, contractors and vendors. We recognise and appreciate the role played by these ancillary industries in the growth of Sterlite. Over the years these units have grown in stature along with us, and have led to general economic prosperity in Thoothukudi. We would like to encourage grassroots entrepreneurship in the district and THUDITSSIA is the apt agency to implement this. We hope the creation of the training facility will be gainfully utilized by budding and established entrepreneurs alike.” Mr. Nehru Prakash, Secretary, THUDITSSIA, added, “At present THUDITSSIA trains entrepreneurs at a small rented facility. There has been a many fold increase in the numbers of people who want to become entrepreneur. Also, our membership, comprising of small scale companies, has risen to 300 plus. Our facility was getting congested. The ‘Sterlite Training Hall’ will mitigate this problem.
