Child, Adolescent Psychiatrist Joins Coastal Psychiatric Medical Associates in Del Mar, CA

Feb. 3, 2011 - PRLog -- Coastal Psychiatric Medical Associates in Del Mar, California is pleased to announce that Dr. Neil Alex, M.D. has joined their staff of psychiatric physicians and therapists.

Dr. Alex is a graduate of Yale University and received his M.D. from Washington University in St. Louis, MO (where he was born and raised).  He completed his pediatric internship at the Yale-New Haven Hospital, and took his adult psychiatry training at Yale.  He then completed a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at Washington University.  After a year in private practice in St. Louis, he joined Kaiser Permanente in San Diego. He was the assistant chief of psychiatry there for 12 years and retired from Kaiser at the end of 2010, after 32 years.  Coastal Psychiatric Medical is so fortunate to have him join their practice with all his experience working with children and the adolescent population.

Dr. Alex is particularly interested in Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and has maintained a web site on this topic for over 15 years.  It is located at http://www.edutechsbs.com/adhd and is called the ADHD Owner’s Manual. He has expertise in autistic spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, and OCD.  He was twice selected by his peers as among the best psychiatrists in San Diego.

Dr. Alex is married and has four children and six grandchildren, with whom he enjoys spending his free time.
