The Ridgefield Chiropractic & Wellness Center Announces Appointment of Dr. Barbara Savicky, DSW

Feb. 3, 2011 - PRLog -- Ridgefield, CT -- The Ridgefield Chiropractic & Wellness Center is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Barbara Savicky, DSW, LCSW, to their staff.  The announcement was made by Dr. Christopher C. Mascetta, founder and director of the Center.

A practicing psychotherapist, counselor, designer and educator, Dr. Savicky has more than 25 years of experience providing services to young adults through seniors.  By using a holistic perspective, Dr. Savicky helps her patients cope with the myriad of today’s challenges -- physical and medical needs, parenting, relationships, changes in financial and employment status, aging and the overall emotional and spiritual adjustments we make to life’s milestones and passages.

“Dr. Savicky adds an important component to our Center by enabling us to treat the emotional, social and spiritual needs of our patients,” said Dr. Mascetta.  “Left untreated, these needs can also contribute to increased pain and impact physical functioning. We welcome Dr. Savicky and look forward to working with her.”

When we focus on the physical, nutritional, emotional and spiritual aspects of a person, we are then providing holistic care -- addressing all of the elements that make us unique individuals.”  

From understanding personality dynamics, communications skills, gender and developmental issues, Dr. Savicky develops effective working relationships with her patients to meet their needs and help resolve difficult life situations.  She uses individual, couple and group counseling to facilitate coping with change and provides educational seminars on relaxation techniques and overall healthy living.

In conjunction with her clinical practice and as owner of Signature Interior Designs, she has expanded her work in the area of residential design to help facilitate how people function within their home, especially after having physical, emotional and medical challenges.  Presently, she is writing a book on designing interiors for those with special needs.

A resident of Weston, CT, Dr. Savicky received her doctorate in clinical social work from Adelphi University, a master’s degree in Social Work from Yeshiva University and a certificate in design from Parson’s School of Design.  She is the past Executive Director of the Family Counseling and Education Center in Garden City, NY, and has taught as an assistant professor and adjunct educator at Long Island University-CW Post Campus and Adelphi University School of Social Work.  She is licensed in Connecticut and New York.
