Feb. 8, 2011 - PRLog -- Building on the foundation of last year’s sold out inaugural leadership summit, Frank Carbajal, author of Building the Latino Future: Success Stories for the Next Generation, has upped the ante with an all-star line-up at Stanford University. Latino leaders from government, business, venture capital firms and academia will come together to continue the theme “Latinos Leading with a 2020 Vision.” Mr. Carbajal’s firm Es Tiempo, LLC is partnering with Gracefully Global Group, LLC and Hispanic-Net to organize this premier leadership event. The 2011 Silicon Valley Latino Leadership Summit will take place at the Stanford Faculty Club on Saturday, May 14th from 08:30 to 5 p.m. Event registration is already 70% sold out.

2010 attendee Eric Schwager of Cisco Systems said, “What I enjoyed most was the opportunity to make new contacts with attendees in fields different than my own. I believe this mix of attendees and the idyllic, intimate setting allowed everyone to make the mental connections and see the common themes across the varied topics covering business, education, government, media, venture capital, etc.”

For this executive event, Mr. Carbajal has assembled an unprecedented lineup. Prominent speakers include:

□   Opening remarks will be provided by the honorable Julián Castro, Mayor of San Antonio. At 36 years-old, this Stanford and Harvard-educated leader is the youngest mayor of a Top 50 city.
□   Frank D. Alvarez, President and CEO of the Hispanic Scholarship Fund
□   Victor Arias, Jr, Senior Client Partner in the Dallas office of Korn/Ferry International
□   Rudy M. Beserra, Vice President of Latin Affairs, Coca Cola Company
□   Frances Morales, Associate Dean and Director, El Centro Chicano at Stanford University
□   Carlos F. Orta, President and CEO, Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility (HACR)
□   Aida Alvarez, Chair, Latino Community Foundation (San Francisco) & Wal-Mart Board Member, Former Administrator of the Small Business Administration

The full lineup and biographies of the speakers and panelists are available at http://siliconvalleylatinoleadership.com/2010/09/22/speak....

Also at this event, San Francisco Bay Area author Graciela Tiscareño-Sato will launch her highly anticipated book "Latinnovating: Green American Jobs and the Latinos Creating Them."  Ms. Tiscareño-Sato has compiled the personal and professional case studies of ten environmental entrepreneurs and leaders across ten different sectors of the nascent green economy. Students and professionals wanting to hear real success stories rising up from our nation’s economic upheaval (plus specific career paths to emulate) should attend the Summit to hear the author’s findings from this two-year project. Last fall, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute recognized this upcoming book eight months ahead of publication. For more about the book and author, please visit http://www.latinnovating.com/.

Business professionals, corporate diversity officers, small business owners, entrepreneurs and college students should attend the Summit to:
□   Peek into (and directly access) the Latino talent pipeline
□   Network with business owners, entrepreneurs, high-level executives and leaders in academia
□   Hear tips on recruiting and retaining Latino talent; learn from a recruiter at a top agency
□   Get updated on the national state of diversity/corporate responsibility
□   Find educational funding sources
□   Learn best practices for gaining admission into Ivy League schools
□   Gain insight to the plethora of opportunities for Latinos in the legal profession (and others)

Nayelli Gonzalez, a 2010 MBA Graduate of the Presidio Graduate School attended the 2010 Summit and observed, “The Latino Leadership Summit helped me connect with other professionals who want to show the world a much more realistic image of our community.  We are PhDs, MBAs, entrepreneurs, and government officials who are positively contributing to our communities—our stories must be told.  I left the conference feeling inspired, motivated, and ready to help shape our message.”

Discounted pricing is available to business students to gain access to potential Latino mentors. Students must be a university junior or senior or currently enrolled in an MBA or other graduate business program. The event will be limited to the first 200 participants who register at http://2011svlls.eventbrite.com.
