Feb. 10, 2011 - PRLog -- Many people love Thinkpads, and swear by them. Perhaps you had the problem of Thinkpad blue screen death like me. After I signed in to access my desktop on my IBM ThinkPad, it made a loud beeping sound and then went to a blue screen that said "Beginning dump of physical memory." The machine reboots, and the process continues about 5 times. I can't access my desktop before it goes to the Blue Screen of Death. Very weird.

Sometimes the blue screen can be caused by bad memory, but if it is doing it right when you try to sign in every time, it is probably a software corruption in windows. I have solved this problem by doing a repair install of windows xp, I am not sure if is an option on other os.
Besides, the one caused of blue screen error or popular known as BSOD on Lenovo/IBM Laptop is BIOS. Most BSOD problem people experience on ThinkPad because of an older BIOS version installed. The first thing you should do to avoid is checking your BIOS version. Once you know the version is old, then you need update to the version. Try to download the Microsoft diagnostic tool which enables you to create a bootable disc that runs some diagnostic tests for you.

Here’s how to check BIOS version on the Lenovo ThinkPad R61, T61, and/or T61p:
1. Turn off the system.
2. Turn on the system.
While the message “To interrupt normal startup, press the blue
ThinkVantage button” is appeared at the lower-left area of the screen,
you can press the F1 key.
3. Now you should see the BIOS Setup Utility menu will be appeared. If
you have set a supervisor password, you require entering the password
to make the BIOS Setup Utility menu appears.
4. Here your BIOS version will appears, just check and embedded
controller version.
Tips: Make a note of it, so you can remember.
5. Turn off the system.
6. Go to the BIOS information through
bios-thinkpad-R61-download link to check the BIOS version of ThinkPad R61 14.1inch
widescreen with IEEE 1394, ThinkPad T61, and T61p.
Anyways, what a bugger is, the blue screen of death is not something one would regard as a joyful experience!
