Anchor Vans reports used van sales remain high and market strong despite recent VAT increase

"A lot of people have been very worried about the impact of the VAT increase," said Simon Joyce, Sales Director of Anchor Vans. "That's why we feel it's important to report that in the used vans market at least, we've seen no negative impact as a result. The market is still buoyant and sales in January have been excellent. People have returned from the Christmas break having made decisions to upgrade or change their commercial vehicles, and the VAT change hasn't affected that at all."

"The only thing we've noticed," Simon continued, "is that people are more asking about VAT free vans. It seems that is on their radar more than before, probably because we've been working hard on that front. It's not surprising; those vans are twenty per cent cheaper and that's a critical saving for small businesses below the VAT threshold. In general," Simon concluded, "I don't have any concerns about the impact of the VAT increase."
