MeVEA delivers a hightechnology crane simulator

Finnish MeVEA Ltd has delivered a "2-in-1" kind of training simulator which works as a tower&mobile crane. The customer,Faktia Oy, will impliment the simulator in to it's new education plan as it aims to take crane operator training to another level!

Feb. 21, 2011 - PRLog -- MeVEA Ltd has delivered the first crane simulator for educational purposes in Finland for Faktia (Forssa Finland Adult Education Center). The simulator was manufactured in a close relationship with the customer to support the education of operators and develop their trainee program. The simulator can be used for both, mobile and tower crane operator training, which makes it versatile for the education center.

"We've been able to adopt new technology with this project, for example using 3D screens. Moving from projectors to high definition screens have been steps we've taken during this project" says MeVEA's Managing Director Tero Eskola. "This successful project with Faktia will also open doors in other educational centers and encourage them to use simulators in operator training!"

Faktia's CEO Jyrki Välkkynen comments that the delivery was on time and reliable as planned. "During the development process MeVEA Ltd frequently offered new innovations and improvements, like for example the 3D-feature." Mr.Välkkynen also says, "the simulator will primarily be used for educational purposes as it improves motor skills and renewing lifting functions and analyzing them. The simulator will also be offered for corporate use for operator testing as a additional service."

The delivered simulator has six 55" high definition screens which use 3D-technology. Also a 5.1 surround sound system and a motion platform add to the immersive environment in the cabin. This simulator is the first "two-in-one" simulator MeVEA has built. Both the mobile and tower crane can be driven in two separate training environments. Various exercises were designed together with the trainers from Faktia and the trainees are able to see the results of their exercise immediately.

In the past crane operator trainees have been trained with real machinery. Now the use of the simulator offers a safe environment for the trainees and also reduces the amount of machinery damage. Use of the simulator will truly bring the training of the trainees to a new level. Different weather conditions can be simulated and the effects to driving can  later be analyzed together with the trainee. Besides normal operator training the simulator can be used in preselection of trainees as well as providing additional training for professionals. The simulator can also be moved to another training location in a couple of day warning.
