Feb. 28, 2011 - PRLog -- The Story Opening Contest has begun at American Pop Lit-- www.americanpoplit.blogspot.com-- open for entries now.
What's a story opening contest?
Simply write a compelling opening to a short story. Just the opening.
200 words maximum.
One entry per person.
Contest ends on March 21st.
It's easy to enter-- post your entry directly at the contest announcement on the blog, under "Comments" at the bottom of the post. What could be simpler?
The entry should be well-written in itself, but also needs to grab the reader to create interest in the rest of the tale.
There will be three judges who'll each choose their three best openings. Points will be assigned for their selections, then totalled. The three top point getters will receive prizes through the mail.
FIRST PLACE: A three-hour 3 dvd set of every appearance by Elvis Presley on the Ed Sullivan Show.
SECOND PLACE: A cd recording of professional voice artist Frank Marcopolos reading the J.D. Salinger story "Teddy," part of Marcopolos Books.
THIRD PLACE: A rare copy of issue #1 (1998) of the classic literary zine Pop Literary Gazette.
As the entries will be visible to all throughout, this will be a publicly open and fair writing contest.
For further information, please see the relevant posts at American Pop Lit.
Enter now-- and good luck!
