The Leeds Group Announces the Appointment of Brad Hakala as Outside General Counsel

March 2, 2011 - PRLog -- Newport Beach, CA - The Leeds Group today announced that Brad Hakala has been named Outside General Counsel.  Mr. Hakala will be responsible for overseeing the legal work for The Leeds Group’s diverse business portfolio.

Having previously practiced at an American Law 100 firm as well as in-house counsel for a multi-national corporation, Mr. Hakala, as the outside General Counsel for The Leeds Group, brings both legal expertise and business sense to the transactions that The Leeds Group seeks to accomplish.

Mr. Hakala has not only litigated various complex business and employment matters on behalf of Fortune 100 clients, he also provides general business, technology, and media law representation to various companies, including start-up businesses and those in the renewable energies sector.  Mr. Hakala is an experienced business litigator who has also been involved in negotiating, structuring, and bringing to life thousands of business transactions.  Having significant experience in both transactional matters as well as litigation has allowed Mr. Hakala the unique perspective and know-how to structure a deal to avoid unnecessary pitfalls leading to litigation, and a deeper understanding of the matters which he typically litigates.  Mr. Hakala will handle The Leeds Group’s diverse book of business start-ups, partnership transactions, private equity contracts, licensing, employment matters, general commercial contracts and transactions.

Additionally, Mr. Hakala has also served as Corporate Counsel for American Suzuki Motor Corporation, where he was responsible for the company’s legal operations, which included negotiating and drafting numerous multi-million dollar business, sponsorship and athlete agreements, obtaining and enforcing intellectual property rights including patents and trademarks, negotiating and drafting licensing agreements, advising on various employment matters including wage & hour code, and overseeing all legal aspects of Suzuki’s advertising.

Aside from The Leeds Group, Mr. Hakala currently represents well-established clients in the automotive, power sports, action-sports, health care, biomedical, and health and fitness industries, as well as upcoming companies who are focused on environmentally conscious technologies.
