Follow on Google News | Newton Abbot Racecourse Invest To Attract The Leisure MarketAs Newton Abbot Racecourse gear up to the start of the new season, the finishing touches are being made to their £250k developments at the course over the winter.
Ever-aware of the need to secure the leisure pound, the racecourse have proceeded with their annual re-investment in the racecourse to enhance their customer experience season after season. Among the improvements at the course are the installation of a new alfresco catering outlet serving the Paddock and Course Enclosure, a new canopy-covered decked seating area outside the new catering outlet, a new toilet block next to the Family Enclosure and the plantation of a number of trees along the Course and Paddock Enclosure thoroughfare. Pat Masterson, Managing Director of Newton Abbot Racecourse said: “Like all racecourses, the leisure pound is very important to us. Each year we have to look at the areas where we need to spend money to be able to attract more people and make Newton Abbot a great day out for all our customers”. With the recent confirmation of the new Premier Inn development at the site, the racecourse have had to make a number of changes to make way for the new hotel. Most noticeably to locals is the re-location of the general public car entrance, which is now accessible via the old Bowls Centre entrance on Greenhill Way. The racecourse carpark has also been moved to the centre of the course, where there will be space for over 2,000 cars. Looking at the year ahead the Managing Director commented: “2011 is set to be a big year for the course. Not only do we have an extended season, but the new hotel development will help enhance the profile of the racecourse on both racing and non-racing days. The onsite accommodation will allow us to cater for multi-day conferences and compete with some of the more established conference venues in the region”. The opening fixture of Newton Abbot’s racing season takes places on Monday 7th March. Tickets are still available priced at £18 for the Paddock Enclosure or £12 for the Course Enclosure.
