McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP Partner Named Whitney North Seymour Award Recipient

March 3, 2011 - PRLog -- NEW YORK – William F. Plunkett, Jr., founding partner of the Plunkett & Jaffe Group of McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP (MLA), was honored by the Federal Bar Council with this year’s Whitney North Seymour Award.  The award, which was established in 1987, recognizes Plunkett’s outstanding public service as a private practitioner and was presented at the council’s 2011 Winter Bench & Bar Conference.

Federal Bar Council President Frank H. Wohl cited Plunkett’s extensive contributions to the public good, including his service as chairman of the New York State Council of Governing Boards, the Westchester County Association and the Westchester Equity Fund.  Plunkett has also served on the Governor’s Committee on Scholastic Achievement and the New York State Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities.

Plunkett, who has more than four decades of experience as a practicing lawyer, has litigated cases in every state and federal court in New York and has worked with virtually every state agency and authority in the state.  He has provided counsel on major commercial and residential real estate and economic development projects in New York, including several billion-dollar projects such as the post-9/11 World Trade Center redevelopment.  Plunkett has served as a member and chairman of numerous professional committees for the American Bar Association, New York State Bar Association and Westchester County Bar Association and as an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association.

Founded in 1932, the Federal Bar Council is an organization of lawyers and judges who practice within the Second U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals with the goal of promoting excellence in federal practice and fellowship among federal practitioners.  It is also committed to encouraging respectful, cordial relations between the bench and bar.
