March 4, 2011 - PRLog -- The 15th Regional FP7 Euro Africa ICT Awareness Workshop (Khartoum University Sudan April 6-7, 2011) is organized by the Euro Africa-ICT FP7 project (primary Sigma Orionis, Makerere University, TWAS and AUF) under the aegis of the European Commission (DG INFSO, International Relations Unit) and with the support of the Khartoum University. These workshops aim at raising awareness on FP7/ICT and at enhancing and supporting Euro-African collaborative projects on ICT research. Several awareness workshops have already been organized in the framework of the Euro Africa-ICT Initiative in Africa in order to enhance the participation of African organizations in FP7 collaborative projects and to support the identification of ICT research priorities. He workshop venue will be the Grand Holiday Villa Hotel – Khartoum, Sudan.

Gedaref digital city organization (GDCO) is NGO. It is part of the Telecentres movement where ICT is used for community development. GDCO is the winner of information for development award i4d 2007 (e-India 2007) for the inclusion of the disabled. It is winner of i4d 2008 awards for the best innovations at the grassroots Telecentres. It is the winner of i4d 2009 for the initiatives of civil society for development . GDCO is a member in the steering committee of UN-ESCWA network for knowledge centres for disadvantage community. GDCO is the founder of the first Telecentre academy http://sudantelecentreacademy.org/ in Africa and Middle East and the thirteen in world. The Digital City of Eindhoven (DSE) Netherlands, the well-known partner http://www.dse.nl/~gedaref/archief.htm of GDCO in Netherlands, donated 750 computers and more than ten projects were established using ICT for community development with other partners (public private partnership PPP)
