WORKFORCE CENTRAL FLORIDA Announces Entrepreneurial Boot Camp

March 8, 2011 - PRLog -- WORKFORCE CENTRAL FLORIDA is offering an opportunity for 25 individuals to participate in an Entrepreneurial Boot Camp from March 28 through April 1.

The five-day event will consist of seminars produced and facilitated by the University of Central Florida that will provide a business self-assessment, technical assistance, entrepreneur resources and training on legal issues, planning, setting financial goals, sources of financing, marketing, etc. Following event completion, each participant will receive three months of mentoring by SCORE as he/she works to open a business.

Individuals who fit the following eligibility requirements may qualify:
• Must be age 22 or older
• Must be a resident of Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Lake or Sumter counties
• Must meet the WIA Dislocated Worker program eligibility categories.  You may be eligible for this program if you meet one of the following criteria:
       • If you have been terminated, laid off or downsized
       • If you are eligible for receiving unemployment compensation
       • If you have exhausted your unemployment benefits
       • If you worked at a facility with more than 25 employees that announced a permanent layoff
       • If you are a homemaker who no longer receives support from another family member and are looking to enter the workforce
       • If you were self-employed and are currently unemployed due to a natural disaster or economic conditions
       • Priority given to veterans and their spouses
       • Must not currently have a failing business in the process of closing
       • Must complete a business plan and prepare a business plan presentation at the conclusion of the boot camp and three months of mentorship
