Follow on Google News | Truman Medical Centers Unveils Cerner Corporation Art GalleryTruman Medical Centers (TMC) unveiled this week, the Cerner Corporation Art Gallery at TMC Hospital Hill as part of the TMC Healing Arts Program.
By: shane kovac “Truman’s holistic initiatives like integrating a museum-quality art gallery into the patient experience and offering a farmer’s market to promote workforce health go hand-in-hand with its mastery of healthcare technology,” The Cerner Corporation Art Gallery is located on the second floor of TMC Hospital Hill in the radiology department corridor. The gallery’s first exhibit features multiple pieces from Malaysian artist Chong Siew Ying. The large oil on canvas pieces bring together elements of landscape, flora and the human face, inviting the viewer to read the story of the art by reading the faces featured. “Cerner’s support for the creation of this new revolving art gallery extends our ‘hospital within an art gallery’ concept by adding another first-class exhibit to our program,” said TMC President and CEO John W. Bluford. “Because Cerner understands our business, supports our mission and encourages our goals, our partnership extends beyond the standard business relationship.” The TMC Center for the Healing Arts program is an innovative use of the arts and humanities to enrich the quality of patient care and further the strategic priorities of the organization. The Center for the Healing Arts works in partnership in the community to offer a variety of programs, initiatives, and enrichment opportunities for both patients and staff of TMC. It uses the creative expression of arts and literature to encourage a broader understanding of people in health and illness. The goal for the Center for the Healing Arts is to improve patient services, and to attract, develop and retain high quality employees to Truman Medical Center. The Healing Arts program has grown to include several venues within our two campus system, TMC Hospital Hill and TMC Lakewood, that features more than 400 pieces of permanent/long term loaned art, as well as, monthly musical concerts at both TMC campuses. The TMC Healing Arts Galleries are free and open to the public during normal business hours, 7 am to 7 pm, Monday through Friday. *editors note* for high resolution photos of the Cerner Gallery Art Exhibit or of Mr. Neal Patterson and Mr. John Bluford in the gallery, please contact TMC Media Relations Manager Shane Kovac at 816-404-3786 or by email at shane.kovac@ About TMC Truman Medical Centers is a not-for-profit two acute-care hospital health system in Kansas City.
