Apple iPad 2 Goes Through Battery Life Test

March 16, 2011 - PRLog -- Apple claims that the new iPad 2 has a longer battery life than the original one. Separate tests show that Apple is telling the truth after all.

One test compared a black 16GB model with Verizon 3G and a white 32GB model with AT&T 3G with a 16GB iPad 3G. The iPad 2 is said to have 10 hours of listening to music, surfing the internet on Wi-Fi, or watching videos. The 3G versions are said to have battery life of up to 9 hours using data network.

To test the battery life (Apple a1185 battery - http://www.batteryfast.co.uk/apple/a1185.htm) , all the iPads played a movie until the batteries die. All of them are connected to the local Wi-Fi network as well. The test ended with the new iPad 2 units outlasting the old iPad. The iPad 2 were left with 3 percent battery. It should be taken into consideration that the iPad test unit is already a year old and battery has already degraded.
The result is still amazing considering the new iPad 2 has more powerful processor and faster graphics. Also recharging the iPad 2 is faster than the old iPad. The original one takes a long time to fully charge. New iPad owners don’t have to suffer from that issue.
