Logicalis acquire business analytics firm Inca Software for £8.65 million

March 17, 2011 - PRLog -- Logicalis, a subsidiary of information and technology group Datatec, has agreed to acquire UK-based Inca Software from its parent company Avisen for £8.65 million. The deal will see Logicalis pay £7.3 million initially, and an extra £1.35 million a year later.

The acquisition will see the creation of a UK systems integrator, which will be capable of delivering a complete set of next-generational business tools, including analytics, collaboration and cloud computing. Inca Software is the largest IBS Cognos partner in the UK and provides a complete package of business analytics products and implementation techniques for more than 400 companies across many industry sectors.

In a statement, Logicalis managing director Tom Kelly stated that they were planning to sell analytics as part of its cloud computing services. "Businesses are generating immense amounts of data but need to glean intelligence from that. We see the whole area of business analytics as a natural fit for the cloud. The word I want everyone in our business to remember is relevance. We have to prove our relevance to customers and partners, and only those that can do this will succeed in the market."

Reports suggest that 60 staff from Inca will be transferred to Logicalis upon completion of the deal, with the brand to be maintained for at least the next 12 months. The acquisition is expected to be completed by 1st April 2011.

According to analysts, Avisen will look to use the proceeds from the sale of Inca Software to further invest in its remaining business divisions, including the launch of its next generation SaaS Storage Analytics solution.
