By: Sabrina McGowan, PR Manager “I have known and admired Chris Marraro for many years,” said Peter Gray, chair of MLA’s Environment, Energy & Product Regulation practice. “He is one of the nation’s top environmental lawyers, having worked in the field all of his career and having been involved in many groundbreaking cases. We are lucky to have him.” Marraro has been at the forefront of environmental litigation for decades. He led the defense in U.S v. Marine Shale Processors, one of the largest multi-media environmental enforcement cases ever tried to a jury. Later, he was the lead trial counsel for W.R Grace & Co. and architect of their landmark win in ICO v. Honeywell et al – a case that changed the landscape of citizen suit litigation in the cleanup of hazardous waste sites for years to come. Currently, he is co-trial counsel for the growers and processors of biotech sugarbeets in multiple lawsuits under the National Environmental Policy Act, which are likely to set the precedent for the defense of environmental challenges to the deregulation of genetically modified crops and other organisms. Marraro received his JD from Franklin Pierce Law Center and a MS degree from the University of Alberta. He is active in the American Bar Association, having chaired the Annual Conference on Environmental Law, the Annual Fall Section Meetings and the Energy and Natural Resources Litigation Committee. # # # About McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP: McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP is an international law firm with 475 attorneys and public policy advisors.
