bergenPAC Announces 3rd Summer Series Inculding Weird Al Yankovic, Alice Cooper, Dickey Betts & More

bergenPAC is proud to announce its 3rdSummer Series!

March 24, 2011 - PRLog -- (Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey- March 21, 2011) bergenPAC is proud to announce its 3rdSummer Series! Executive Director David Rodriguez noted "this series is key to our efforts to continue bringing programs and world class artists at affordable prices to our own backyard.  We are especially pleased to announce recently inducted Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member,Alice Cooper on the same date that the awards ceremony is being broadcasted on Fuse.  We are also pleased to bring first time performances by Weird Al Yankovic, Tim Conway from theCarol Burnett Show and the many artists of Hippifest as well as the tried and true favorites including , The Beach Boys, Huey Lewis & The News, and Pat Benatar.  bergenPAC hopes there is a little something for everyone.  As gas prices climb, it gives people one more reason to enjoy entertainment close to home at a fraction of the price of going to New York City."

Some of the shows of particular interest include Steve Martin who recorded his Grammy winning bluegrass album right here in Englewood at the Bennett Studios.  His program mixes world class musicianship with comedic introductions by an artist who rarely performs publicly.  Where else can you hear Steve sing the new version of “King Tut” on banjo.

Hippiefest brings the best of the 60s on stage.  Five bands share the same evening with hits including "We Just Disagree,"  "Im Your Captain," " Some Kind of Wonderful," " Rock and Roll - Hoochie Koo," "Groovin," "People Got to be Free,"  "Dream Weaver," and"Love is Alive" - to name only a few.

Following a month of sold out shows at the Beacon Theater, two generations of the Allman Brothers Band will be represented through their solo projects.  With separate evenings of Gregg Allmann (the Midnight Rider) and slide guitar hero Dickey Betts (Ramblin Man), any Allman fan will have a home for performances this summer at bergenPAC.

This will also be the only area appearance of Weird Al Yankovic.  His Grammy winning song parodies are fun for the entire family and appropriate for all ages.  From polka versions of Nirvana and Michael Jackson to turning songs by Camilionaire and Coolio in to comedy classics, he has become a favorite for kids and their parents.  After selling out PNC arts center last year, this is a rare opportunity to see him in a small venue at an affordable price!

With the success of Rain's tribute to the Beatles on Broadway, bergenPAC was also able to once again book The 1964 Tribute following their sold out performance at Carnegie Hall.  1964 is the premiere touring Beatles tribute in the nation - this is another opportunity to share a program following its Carnegie Hall presentation closer to home at half the price.
