Amazing Taylormade Tour Burner TP Driver

March 25, 2011 - PRLog -- The first thing that you will notice when you look at this club is the large size, it measures 4.8" from heel to toe, and 4.8" from front to back, this takes it almost to the USGA limit on face length and depth. This allows the engineers to move the center of gravity extremely low and deep in the club head for a higher launch with less spin for increased distance. The effective moment of inertia to over 5800 gram centimeters squared, for the ultimate in forgiveness. The club head itself looks like it is composite, but the crown graphics are designed to help align the club square to the target line. The ultra thin titanium walls and crown make this club head lighter, this combined with the lighter shaft and grip allow for maximum club head speed. The Burner features the patented Reax shaft, which is designed to reduce ovaling for a more consistent swing and flex profile. This added stability allows for a longer stock shaft (46 inches) which further promotes higher club head speeds for increased distance.
The small crown and oversize sole are designed to create a centre of gravity that is 40% lower in the clubface than the Burner TP's. The head is designed to help create a high launch angle and low spin rate for longer, straighter drives.
The Tour Burner driver made an immediate impact on tour when it went straight into many of the TaylorMade players’ bags. The crown of the driver is considerably smaller than the oversize sole. “Inverted Cone Technology” is used in both the driver and the new Tour Burner irons to enlarge the sweetspot and offer more forgiveness.
The Tour Burner driver head's exceptionally high MOI makes it extremely stable and forgiving on off-center hits. That benefit, combined with the advantage provided by TaylorMade's renowned Inverted Cone clubface technology, results in even higher ball speed on off-center hits. Inverted Cone Technology, characterized by a shallow cone milled directly onto the inner side of the clubface, changes the way the face behaves at impact so that a larger area of the face delivers higher ball speed. The combined benefits of the Tour Burner driver's high MOI and Inverted Cone Technology result in what TaylorMade calls "effective MOI," or "eMOI," that exceeds 5800 (the USGA's limit on MOI is 5900).
The TaylorMade Tour Burner TP driver has a powerful look from the side, but from above it has a slightly triangular shape as the back of the club is pulled away from the face. Compared to the standard version, the Tour Burner TP has a deeper face and a more compact head and the sound at impact is much better. The forgiveness was good right across the face and the trajectory was lower than most other drivers around, which was good. The shaft on the TP version is much better than the standard Tour Burner and you notice this in the performance. If you can afford it then this is a good club, but other drivers offer better value for money.
