Follow on Google News | History to Dock at Tin City, Columbus' Nina & Pinta ReplicasHistory will dock at Tin City when replicas of Columbus' Nina and Pinta ships will be in town from April 1st through the 10th.
By: Samantha Scott The ‘Nina’ was built completely by hand and without the use of power tools, and was called by Archaeology magazine “the most historically correct Columbus replica ever built.” The craftsmanship of construction and the details in the rigging make it a truly fascinating visit back to the Age of Discovery. The ‘Nina’ was used in the production of the film ‘1492’ starring Gerard Depardieu and directed by Ridley Scott. General admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors (age 60+), $6 ages 5-16 and children 4 and under are free. The ships are open every day from 9 AM to 6 PM. Teachers or groups wishing to schedule a 30 minute guided tour with a crew member should call the ship directly at (787) 672-2152 or email columfnd@surfbvi.com to make arrangements. Cruise Naples is the docking sponsor with Naples Waterfront Association and Pincher’s Crab Shack acting as media sponsors for the event.
