By: Stephanie Lalonde see trailer here: http://idcommunications.org/ Directed and produced by James E. Motluck, ‘‘Living in the Shadow’’ has just completed post-production, in anticipation of its preniere Canadian broadcast. The film retraces the journey made by a group of Canadians to the Ukrane in 1988 following the Chornobyl disaster (Chernobyl is the russian spelling) to document on video and in photographs the human drama that was unfolding. Their images served to spearhead a large-scale humanitarian relief effort that continues today as a multi-million dollar charity called The Children of Chornobyl Canada Fund. For the first time ever, their story is offered to the public. “James has put together a compelling visit back in time through the eyes of the two men who went to Chornobyl right after the disaster. In the light of recent nuclear events in Japan, their stories are most timely” says Dan Shannon, of ID Communications. “This is a story about ordinary people committing extraordinary acts in the aftermath of the worst nuclear accident in history. It serves as a cautionary tale for present and future generations” The film is earmarked for Canadian premiere later this year and travels to MIPTV to be presented to international buyers.
