April 1, 2011 - PRLog -- At age 15 a young boy known to many in his hometown as Sam Messam took the decision that with his ability and persistence, nothing could bring about a deterrent that would prevent him from pursuing a musical career in the local industry. He braved the onslaught of negative criticism towards such decision and not long after his admission into the industry along with encouragement by family and friends performed live to a hometown crowd in Mandeville; the chief town of the parish of Manchester, to which he was born.  The performance was well received and formed the genesis of a potential Jamaican International Reggae/Dancehall Entertainer.

Mad Sam got his inspiration from listening to the music of veterans Sizzla Kolanji, Tupac Shakur, the legendary Bob Marley and Dancehall Icon Bounty Killer.  His own personal style is a combination of some of the most potent elements that made these artistes the Icons and legends the world have come to know them as.  Growing up in the rural Jamaica contributes to his laid back persona, away from the fast paced, rigorous day to day activity of Kingston city.   Manchester is regarded as Jamaica's mountain resort and the island's largest hill town and fifth largest urban centre. Manchester is located 64 miles out of the city of Kingston and has a charm and a climate all of its own, as if it has been sheltered against all developments in the capital.

Mad Sam's first professional recording session took place at Exclamation Studio in the town of Mandeville, the track entitled ‘One Day,’ quickly became popular throughout the capital upon its release he went on to record other tracks such as ‘Need a Girl,’ ‘Find a Way’ and “Recession Xmas.”  He got some exposure through working with Sevad Music House.  But it was not until he signed an official management contractual agreement with Up Deh House Productions, UPD a Miami based record label with Jamaican connections that his career took shape.

Mad Sam recorded a single entitled, 'Spinning Around' on UPD/Freeze Production Label which quickly got on to the playlists of several local radio jocks upon its release.  This development lead to his performance on highly anticipated annual events such as the International Kite Festival and Mandeville Carnival in the same year.  The songs’ hit potential in the Reggae/Dancehall market seemed favourable and thereby triggered the decision by his Management team to launch an extensive promotional campaign.  A new video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksVq0sErtew was shot during Appleton Temptation Isle holiday weekend during summer in Ocho Rios by UPD’s Creative Director, Robert J. Escandon; and put in rotation throughout Jamaica’s television network.

UPD Chief Executive Officer, Tyrone Smith, landed a movie deal with Japanese company MasterFlow Productions and Kingdom Pictures in January 2011 for Sam’s lead role in an urban tale called 'The Mile," which mark Mad Sam’s motion picture debut.  In coordination with the movie debut, UPD is working assiduously to drop Sam’s long awaited album. Since the release of Spinning Around, Mad Sam recorded other singles such as We Tired and Poverty and has performed on other local events to include the Fantan Mojah produced, Reggae In The Valley show held in the parish of St. Elizabeth and a charitable event put on by students of the University of West Indies in aid of the Nels Learning Centre; an early childhood educational institute located in place called Tavern in St. Andrew and held at the university, Taylor Hall auditorium.
