Cash strapped Scots being ripped off in their own homes

April 4, 2011 - PRLog -- The Scottish debt charity CAS (Citizen Advice Scotland) has warned that mobile telephone and internet service providers are charging excessively while the country is still struggling financially.

CAS handled eight thousand related cases last year, and the largest reported problem relates to the transparency of pricing leaving individuals feeling that they had been overcharged and mis-sold.

The report condemned the actions of the ISP and mobile phone companies, claiming that it had left people ‘vulnerable to exploitation’.

ISPs have not been fair either, there seems to be an overall mentality of ‘disconnect now, ask questions later’. Disconnecting an internet connection where for example the person works from home, self-employed and relies on the internet will have wider reaching and more serious implications. A balanced approach is required.
