UK Sailing Academy prepares Emirati stars for Ocean race

April 6, 2011 - PRLog -- Adil and Butti will represent the United Arab Emirates in the gruelling 39,000 nautical mile Volvo Ocean Race which starts in Alicante, Spain this October and ends nine months later in Glaway, Ireland.

As part of their preparation for the extreme race, the two sailors are training with the High Performance department at the UK Sailing Academy.

Adil and Butti have just completed a series of certified courses and personal development seminars at the UKSA to learn goal setting, motivation and working in a high-performance team.

Next month (May 11 to May 30), the duo return to the UK Sailing Academy for offshore, navigational and race training skill workshops. They also compete in a number of off-shore races in the Solent and English Channel to help build their physical endurance and competitive spirit.

For us at UKSA, it is fantastic to be part of history in the making as Adil and Butti become the first UAE nationals to compete in the Ocean race.”

From beginners’ courses to training for Deck Officer qualifications, the Academy has training options for people of all abilities.
