Follow on Google News | ![]() UK Sailing Academy prepares Emirati stars for Ocean raceThe UK Sailing Academy (UKSA), one of the world’s premier teaching facilities, is taking a central role in the training of Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing's Emirati sailing stars Adil Khalid and Butti Al Muhairi.
By: UKSA As part of their preparation for the extreme race, the two sailors are training with the High Performance department at the UK Sailing Academy. Adil and Butti have just completed a series of certified courses and personal development seminars at the UKSA to learn goal setting, motivation and working in a high-performance team. Next month (May 11 to May 30), the duo return to the UK Sailing Academy for offshore, navigational and race training skill workshops. They also compete in a number of off-shore races in the Solent and English Channel to help build their physical endurance and competitive spirit. Ben Willows, Director of Operations at the UK Sailing Academy, says: “It is always exciting to be able to train with other sailors from around the world. For us at UKSA, it is fantastic to be part of history in the making as Adil and Butti become the first UAE nationals to compete in the Ocean race.” Based in Cowes on the Isle of Wight, the UK Sailing Academy’s 3.5 acre on shore campus and fleet offers a comprehensive range of industry accredited yachting offers a range of fully qualified training courses for those wanting a career in yachting or racing. From beginners’ courses to training for Deck Officer qualifications, the Academy has training options for people of all abilities.
