| Cosimo Expands on its UFO Book Collection: Report on Unidentified Flying Objects Now AvailableThe unsanctioned report of Project Blue Book and Captain Edward J. Ruppelt's findings on Unidentified Flying Objects, with an introduction from UFO Investigator and British author Colin Bennett.
By: Cosimo Captain Edward J. Ruppelt was a man who sat on the edge of history his whole life. A member of the US Army Air Force and decorated World War II hero, he was a well-respected and credible man. Then, in 1951, the government assigned him to “Project Blue Book” as the lead conducting government research on flying saucers. If the government hoped his findings would confirm that UFOs could be explained away as chance sightings, they were disappointed. Ruppelt, ever the informer, published an unsanctioned report that went against the general military opinion that flying saucers did not exist, suggesting evidence to support the existence of extraterrestrial life. The Report on Unidentified Flying Objects is a window into the research that Ruppelt collected while heading “Project Blue Book.” It was under his leadership that the project first began to seriously analyze sightings in an unbiased way. His findings supported the theory of UFOs and the importance of continuing to conduct government-sanctioned research. Ruppelt became the “founding father” of ufology, making the subject what it is today, a legitimate and fascinating area of study. The original controversial 1956 edition of The Report on Unidentified Flying Objects is now released by Cosimo Classics with an introduction by British author and UFO investigator, Colin Bennett, who says: “ The story of Captain Edward Ruppelt’s Project Blue Book, is a highly significant part of the narrative about “the military industrial complex”…..and The Report on Unidentified Flying Objects is as much about politics within national military organizations as it is about “flying saucers”” To find out more about Ruppelt's fascinating life, read also his biography Flying Saucers Over the White House by British author and UFO researcher Colin Bennett, recently released in the U.S. (Cosimo Books). ABOUT THE AUTHOR EDWARD J. RUPPELT (1923-1960) was the head of Project Blue Book during the Korean War, from 1951-1953. He served at the Air Technical Intelligence Center, where he took over Project Grudge, a formal investigation by the U.S. military with the goal of debunking extraterrestrial and UFO activity. Under Ruppelt's supervision, the project, later named Blue Book, experienced its most fruitful years, when investigations were properly conducted without judgment or disdain. Many UFO researchers hail him as a pioneer of UFO research and hero in the fight to earn respectability for the field. COLIN BENNETT has written several books, including Looking for Orthon and Politics of the Imagination, which won the Anomalist Award for Best Biography in 2002. Bennett also wrote Flying Saucers Over the White House, a biography of Edward J. Ruppelt. Bennett currently resides in London where he continues to write and discover new interests.
