Follow on Google News | NAHIP Receives Cease and Desist from The Inventory InstituteThe Inventory Institute's CHIP program's name is confusingly similar to NAHIP's new program.
The Inventory Institute is alleging NAHIP’s use of the name is confusingly similar to the Inventory Institute’s name. This action is largely due to TII’s finding that NAHIP began offering a Certified Home Inventory Professional (CHIP) program in January 2011. The Inventory Institute has created, trademarked, copyrighted, and marketed the Certified Home Inventory Professional program since 2009. The Inventory Institute’s CHIP program is geared toward the experienced Home Inventory Professional and is modeled after other respected formal certification programs in various industries. The Inventory Institute’s CHIP program includes over ten hours of video, forms, coaching, and tests; plus requires submission of three complete home inventories. This cease and desist demand sets forth a variety of corrective actions to be undertaken by NAHIP including but not limited to the immediate removal all use of the term ‘Certified Home Inventory Professional’ The Inventory Institute’s primary goal remains educating the public on the importance of third party home and business inventory. The Inventory Institute has committed to redoubling its efforts to highlight and promote ethical and exemplary members of the Third Party Professional Home and Business Inventory industry. May is Home Inventory Awareness Month.
