Easter Weekend Schedules, Events Announced for N.C. Historic Sites, History Museums and Art Museums

Many state historic sites, history museums and art museums will have schedule changes and special events over the Easter weekend . Special activities include three Easter egg hunts and train rides with the Easter Bunny himself.
 
April 20, 2011 - PRLog -- RALEIGH, N.C. – The Easter weekend will bring schedule changes to many state historic sites, history museums and art museums. Some venues have special activities, including two Easter egg hunts on Good Friday and one on Saturday, plus train rides with the Easter Bunny himself.

Details for the N.C. State Historic Sites, the N.C. Museum of History and its branch museums, and the N.C. Museum of Art and its branch museum are as follows:

Division of the N.C. Museum of History

N.C. Museum of History, Raleigh -- open Good Friday, Saturday and Monday; closed only Easter Sunday

Museum of the Albemarle, Elizabeth City – open Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; closed Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Monday

Museum of the Cape Fear, Fayetteville – open Saturday and Monday (galleries are closed on Mondays); closed Good Friday and Easter Sunday

Mountain Gateway Museum, Old Fort – open Saturday and Monday; closed Good Friday and Easter Sunday

N.C. Maritime Museum, Beaufort -- open on regular schedules all four days

N.C. Maritime Museum, Southport – closed all four days (moving into new facility)    

Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum, Hatteras – open Monday only

N.C. Museum of Art, Raleigh – open Good Friday, Saturday and Easter Sunday; closed on Mondays

Gov. Charles B. Aycock Birthplace, Fremont – open Saturday and Monday; closed Good Friday and Easter Sunday

Historic Bath, Bath – open Saturday; closed Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Monday

Battleship USS North Carolina, Wilmington – open each day on regular schedule, with paid admission; the Easter egg hunt/carnival is from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Good Friday ($5 admission, free for kids 2 and younger), featuring continuous games, a petting zoo, a bounce house and pictures with Buddy the Battleship Bunny in his sailor suit (Battleship ticket not required for Easter events)

Bentonville Battlefield, Four Oaks – open Saturday and Monday; closed Good Friday and Easter Sunday

Brunswick Town/Ft. Anderson, Winnabow – open Saturday; closed Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Monday

CSS Neuse/Gov. Caswell Memorial, Kinston – open Saturday and Monday; closed Good Friday and Easter Sunday

Ft. Fisher, Kure Beach – open Saturday; closed Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Monday

Roanoke Island Festival Park, Manteo – open each day, with paid admission; special activities in the Outdoor Pavilion include the third annual Easter egg hunt at 1 p.m. on Good Friday and the Rock-n-Ride 2011 Harley Concert featuring the Georgia Satellites from noon-5 p.m. on Saturday (tickets $15/$10 for this Outer Banks Harley Week event)
