By: Evangeline M. Mitchell, Esq. This year's schedule is jam-packed with everything any aspiring lawyer would need to know to make an educated decision regarding pursuing a professional legal education. There will be powerful and thought-provoking workshop sessions and panel discussions made up of expert law school administrators and accomplished law students, lawyers and judges imparting information in all critical areas a future law student should become knowledgeable about. Key "insider" information will be shared about the admissions process, the Law School Admission Test, personal and diversity statements, financing a legal education, selecting a law school, preparing for and making the most of the law school experience, diversity issues, passing the bar exam, different legal career options and paths, finding success in the legal job search, networking and relationship building, etiquette and business image, strategic planning, and the keys to career advancement. We will even delve into the controversial issues others want to shy away from including whether law school is worth the investment with the looming debt load in this unstable economy, and the special concerns African Americans face in legal education and in the profession. Moreover, participants will have the unique opportunity to actually experience what it feels like to be a law student in the law school classroom through mock classes. In addition, participants will be able to gain small group interaction and networking opportunities that they otherwise would not receive in a friendly and non-threatening environment. There will be structured networking activities including icebreakers, speed networking, and receptions/mixers. The Law School Admissions & Preparation Help Advice Clinic, a signature event, will also take place so that attendees can get answers to their specific questions. Registrants will also have the opportunity to get one-on-one assistance with their personal statements, diversity statements, addenda, and resumes from trained "attorney mentors." Furthermore, the popular Law School Recruitment Fair will take place during a dedicated time block where pre-law students will have the opportunity to talk to law school representatives from 100 law schools at all tier levels from across the country. No other comprehensive national pre-law conference like this exists - period. With only 7% of law students and 4% of all lawyers being African American, the need remains great. This groundbreaking "must attend" event is free of charge and open to the public. Deluxe and premium registrations are also available. High school students, college students and graduates, working professionals, career changers, college advisors, as well as supporters and parents are all encouraged to take advantage of the amazing benefits this conference offers. Further information and updates regarding the conference schedule and featured speakers can be found at the official conference website at www.BlackPreLawConference.com. # # # The nation's premier information- End
