New This Summer: Callaway Gardens Farmers Market

Fresh Regional Vegetables, Flowers, Products, and More; Entertainment; Free Admission; Vendor Opportunities

April 25, 2011 - PRLog -- PINE MOUNTAIN, GA – Kicking off the weekend will be even more fun this Summer.  Plan to be at the new Callaway Gardens Farmers Market each Friday afternoon from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. featuring farmers, food, and fun!

Guests will be able to purchase items such as vegetables, fruits, eggs, meats, cheeses, herbs, honey, baked goods, and healthy snacks as well as flowers, bedding plants, and potted plants.  In addition, artisans and crafters will offer their creations for purchase.  To keep the market items local, vendors within a 150-mile radius will be featured.

Guests to Callaway Gardens also will enjoy demonstrations on how to garden; how to cook with these fresh food items; how to decorate with fresh flowers; and more.  This, along with children’s activities, will provide a fun and interactive learning environment.

“Fridays are going to be so exciting.  We’ll start with free admission to the Farmers Market beginning at 4 p.m.  We’ll have live music and games at Robin Lake Beach and then guests can stay and enjoy the 8 p.m. performance of the FSU Flying High Circus,” said Joan Sykora, coordinator of the Farmers Market.  “In addition to the fun, the Farmers Market concept promotes the use of regional products and is in perfect step with Callaway Gardens’ mission of environmental education and land stewardship.”

The Farmers Market will be open each Friday June 3, 2011, through October 28, 2011, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in front of the Beach Dome at Robin Lake Beach.  Admission will be free at the Beach Gate on U. S. Hwy. 27 beginning at 4 p.m.
