April 27, 2011 - PRLog -- The Norwich Arts Centre will welcome alternative country act The Handsome Family on Friday March 13th.

Based around husband-and-wife duo Brett and Rennie Sparks, the New Mexico-based group have been winning critical acclaim for their songwriting since the 1994 release of their debut album Odessa.

They are also adored by fans around the world for an impressive back catalogue that mixes elements of country, bluegrass, murder ballads and American folk music to captivating effect.

Although The Handsome Family have not issued a new album since Honey Moon in 2009, they released a collection of rare demo recordings, cover versions and studio outtakes entitled Scattered last year.

Brett and Rennie are known for recording all their songs in a converted garage studio at the back of their Albuquerque home.

Support for their show in Norfolk will be provided by special guest Daniel Knox, an upcoming songwriter who has already collaborated with the likes of David Lynch and Jarvis Cocker.

Tickets are available for £12 in advance and £14 on the door, with the gig due to start at 20:00 BST.
