April 28, 2011 - PRLog -- After five years as the leader in guided bus tours of Brooklyn, A Slice of Brooklyn Bus Tours finds its original tour of the borough, "A Slice of Brooklyn Pizza Tour", voted #1 tour of Brooklyn by Tripadvisor .

Started in August of 2005 by native Brooklynite Tony Muia, "A Slice of Brooklyn Pizza Tour" has been featured on NBC's Today Show, The Travel Channel and the Food Network as well as in the pages of the New York Times, the London Times, Frommer's NYC Guide and Lonely Planet.

"I couldn't be happier with the news!" says Muia. "When I started the pizza tour five years ago, there were no bus tours covering Brooklyn's favorite food, neighborhoods, landmarks and famous movie locations. In fact, there were no guided bus tours of Brooklyn at all that were being conducted by native Brooklynites. To see the pizza tour voted the #1 tour of Brooklyn by Tripadvisor is not only an honor, but a testament to the hard work and dedication we've put into becoming the preeminent  tour company of Brooklyn." Adds Muia, "Folks who've taken our tour realize for themselves why our company slogan is 'Manhattan? FUHGETTABOUDIT!'"

The tour starts by picking passengers up in  Manhattan. From there, it stops at two of Brooklyn's most famous pizzerias: Grimaldi's under the Brooklyn Bridge in the DUMBO section of Brooklyn for their award winning Neapolitan style pizza and L&B Spumoni Gardens in the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn for their legendary Sicilian style pizza. In between, passengers are treated to the history and culture of such neighborhoods as Sunset Park, Red Hook, Bay Ridge, Bath Beach, Brighton Beach and even the celebrated Coney Island boardwalk. The tour also includes famous Brooklyn movie locations from such movies as Scent of a Woman, Once Upon a Time in America, Saturday Night Fever, Goodfellas, The French Connection and more.

And yet, for many people, that's not even the best part of the tour says Muia. "People love the fact that they get treated like VIPs as they go right past the infamous line at Grimaldi's. For many of them, as you can see from their reviews on Tripadvisor, that's worth the price of the tour alone!"

Some of the other pizza tour reviews on Tripadvisor include:

“Must do tour when in NYC”

“I wouldn't choose to see Brooklyn & eat pizza any other way!”

"We did 3 tours in NY, this was undoubtedly the best of the bunch."

"Brooklyn like you have never seen it."

“Went two times and would go again!”

“Most fun thing I've ever done on a vacation”

“This is the best tour in NYC and a MUST DO if you really want a good time!”

“You wanna know what Brooklyn is about? Go on this tour!”

“Worth a place in the top 5 things to do/see in New York”

“The Best Tour I was Ever On!”

“We've Never Liked Tours...Until Today!”

Besides the pizza tour, A Slice of Brooklyn Bus Tours offers two other unique tours of the borough. There's the "Brooklyn Neighborhood Tour" which features areas like the Promenade in Brooklyn Heights, Park Slope, the original location of Ebbets Field where the Brooklyn Dodgers played, Green-Wood Cemetery and Victorian Flatbush as well as movie locations from Moonstruck, The Godfather, As Good As it Gets and Sophie's Choice. Included in the tour is a stop at the original Junior’s for their world famous cheesecake and an egg cream.

The other is the wildly popular “Christmas Lights and Cannoli Tour” which features the world famous Dyker Heights section of Brooklyn. It's the Italian-American area known as "Dyker Lights" where every December over 100,000 people flock to see the most over-the-top Christmas decorations. Muia was even featured on Samantha Brown’s “Holidays in New York” special in December of 2010 escorting Samantha through the area. Included in the tour is a stop at Mona Lisa Pastry Shop for cannoli and cappuccino.

Besides doing tours for the general public, Muia and his Brooklyn tour guides act as hop-on guides for tour operators from around the country who bring their groups to NYC. They also do custom and private tours for groups like bachelor parties, wedding parties and birthdays celebrations.

Says Muia, “The best part has been showing people who’ve never been to Brooklyn how easy it is to get here, how wonderfully unique all the neighborhoods are, how many classic movies were filmed here and how much history and great food sits just across the river from Manhattan.” Adds Muia, “Ah, who am I kidding? The best part is hearing them say ‘Manhattan? FUHGETTABOUDIT!’”
