Scottish Highland Festival Returns to South County

A wee bit of Scotland comes to the Washington County Fairgrounds, Rte. 112, Sat. June 11 during the 13th Annual Rhode Island Scottish Highland Festival.

April 29, 2011 - PRLog -- RICHMOND, RI – The South County Tourism Council invites you to a wee bit of Scotland at the Washington County Fairgrounds, Rte. 112, Sat. June 11.
The 13th Annual Rhode Island Scottish Highland Festival brings bagpipers, Highland dance, Scottish and American food, as well as athletic competitions including the open stone throw and the Caber toss to South County. Less heavy athletics include the Haggis toss, Wellington boot or rolling pin toss competitions.
Dance and piping competitions take place through the day. Clan village tents are available to check family ancestry for those interested in their heritage.
The South County Tourism Council is delighted that our area is again hosting this event which promotes an appreciation of Scottish dance, music and culture.
For those of you inclined, kilt wearing is encouraged.
The Scottish Festival is held rain or shine from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
