Local author seeks Pepsi grant to fund retreat for Detroit human service workers

Speakers, meals and an award ceremony also are planned. Recipients will be selected from the top 50 nominees. Human service providers help the homeless, children and seniors through critical times for minimal pay and often with little recognition. Detroit area caregivers and human service workers work tirelessly, often performing the duties of two or more employees.
