Dadi Janki

The Head of Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University as well as one of its’ founding members in 1937.

Dadi Janki was born in 1916 in Hyderabad Sindh, in a very traditional community.  However, by her early 20s she had disregarded the constraints of social conventions including the caste system, and became one of the few active female spiritual leaders.

Under her guidance and inspiration, centres of the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University now have branches in over 130 countries world-wide.  Throughout her many years of work, Dadi has provided guidance and support for many, counselling them in a variety of areas, including emotional and psychological problems, family relationships and substance abuse.

Together with Archbishop Desmond Tutu, HH the Dalai Lama and Prince Hassan of Jordan, Dadi is an international Patron of Rights and Humanity, an organisation promoting respect for human rights as a foundation for global economic and social justice and human development.


Dadi Gulzar

Whilst her birth name Hirdaya Mohini means ''‘the one who wins the heart’'', Dadi (meaning: elder sister) is now known as Gulzar, - ‘rose garden’.

Dadi Gulzar is the Additional Administrative Head of the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University (BKWSU), Director of the Brahma Kumaris in Delhi and adjoining areas, and is a member of the University’s managing committee, as well as the Raja Yoga Education and Research Foundation, and the World Renewal Spiritual Trust.
Dadi was President of the steering committee for the Health Awareness Campaign in India, aimed at making health of mind and body accessible to all people.

Although her formal education only reached school level, Dadi Gulzar is now recognised as a great spiritual teacher. Her clarity of thought, simplicity of style, and endearing humour have earned her a reputation as a popular speaker worldwide. She draws on many decades of personal experience and speaks from a place of great silence and wisdom.
