Phoenix Union High School District Builds Educator Evaluation System to Improve Student Achievement

May 17, 2011 - PRLog -- Phoenix Union High School District (PUHSD) selected Truenorthlogic, an award-winning provider of K-12 human capital management solutions, and Data Driven Software Corporation (D2SC), an experienced provider of curriculum, instruction, assessment and reporting needs, as their partners in deploying a new educator evaluation system.  Like all Arizona districts, PUHSD is faced with the task of complying with the new Arizona Department of Education mandate; Senate Bill 1040, requiring all school districts and charter schools must adopt and maintain a model framework for a teacher and principal evaluation instrument that includes quantitative data on student academic progress.  Incorporated in PUHSD’s new evaluation system are competencies, professional development courses, certification statuses, curriculum, instructional resources, national and state test results, student interventions, plus many more features all in one place with real-time access to data.  The new evaluation system will manage the multiple evaluation measures and align professional growth for all staff based on evaluation results to impact practice, along with communicating performance results to stakeholders.

PUHSD began the first phases of the evaluation system implementation, introduced components of it to portions of the school district, and 1,700 teachers and leaders in the school system will utilize during the 2011-2012 school year.  The end result will be a platform to leverage evaluation results and student data to impact the professional growth of teachers and leaders, which will in turn help students in the classroom.
