The Destination Guide video travel log has voted Charleston Black Bean Co. (http://www.blackbeanco.com/) the best Healthy Food in Charleston.

Dubbed “energy food” by founder Ellis Grossman, the Black Bean Co. is redefining fast food. In Grossman’s world, “fast” is not a euphemism for “greasy” and “fattening.” Black Bean Co. simply serves healthy food — much of it grown in Grossman’s own garden — quickly. At his second location, he’s even installing a 12-car drive-through window.  

“We chose Black Bean Co. because it manages to shatter every stereotype about fast food,” says associate producer David Warm. “Black Bean Co. is not only healthy, it’s really good.”

The Best of Charleston is the second installment in www.thedestinationguide.com’s “Best of” competition. The so-called “Holy City” follows on the heels of its neighbor to the south, Savannah.

The Best of Charleston competition gives fans an opportunity to vote for their favorite destination simply by watching a video. The video with the most “views” at the end of 30 days wins a commercial package.

The Savannah competition came down to the wire, as Doc’s Bar in nearby Tybee Island edged out Case Veterinary Hospital, Churchill’s Pub, Vic’s on the River, The Armstrong Inns, Johnnie Ganem’s Winery & Package Store and Blue Orb Ghost Tours.
