Dawna Lee Heising of Eye on Entertainment Interviews Kelvin Han Yee and Margarita Pidgeon

May 31, 2011 - PRLog -- Dawna Lee Heising of Eye on Entertainment interviewed classically-trained actor Kelvin Han Yee and Margarita Pidgeon at the premiere of Christine Yoo’s WEDDING PALACE at the 2011 Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival (LAAPFF) on Friday, April 29, 2011 at the Directors Guild of America (DGA).  WEDDING PALACE is a romantic comedy directed by Christine Yoo.  The film was written by Yoo and Robert Gardner, and stars Brian Tee, Margaret Cho, Hye-jeong Kang, Steve Park and Kelvin Han Yee.

A San Francisco native, Kelvin Han Yee began his career as a company member at the American Conservatory Theater. A classically-trained actor, Kelvin was the first Asian American actor to join Ashland's Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Other theater credits include Berkeley Repertory Theater, Boston's Huntington Theater, San Jose Stage and Los Angeles' East West Players and Lodestone Ensemble. An ex-bouncer and skilled martial artist, Kelvin's bad guy persona has played out on screen in an array of characters, both lawful and criminal. Not just limited to "tough guys", Kelvin also draws upon his comedy and improvisation background which is illustrated in roles on Chuck, Entourage, Accidentally On Purpose, Curb Your Enthusiasm and the Nick Swardson comedy BORN TO BE A STAR. Visual Communications (VC), the nation’s premier Asian Pacific American media arts center, held the 27th edition of the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival (LAAPFF) from April 28 - May 7, 2011 at the Director’s Guild of America (DGA), Laemmle’s Sunset 5 Theatres, and the CGV Cinemas located in Koreatown.  As Southern California’s largest and most prestigious film festival of its kind, the LAAPFF launched the celebration of Asian Pacific Heritage Month through the 2011 slate of 180 films from both Asian Pacific American and Asian international directors from 20 countries.  Over the past 27 years, the Festival has presented over 3400 films and shorts by Asian American and Asian international artists.  This year, 32 feature films and 148 shorts were showcased throughout the 10-day fest.
