Follow on Google News | Math Education Pays Off for Saint Andrew’s Episcopal School StudentsTop 20 scores achieved by two third grade Saint Andrews’s students out of 988 nationwide and five fourth graders out of 987 nationwide at Math Kangaroo Competition
The students who placed in the top 20 nationwide are: Antonio Caceres (4th grade), Robert Chien (4th grade), Katy Chu (3rd grade), Mario Goranov (4th grade), Cedric Nowatzyk (4th grade), Matthew Quan (3rd grade) and Sian Smith (4th grade). This year there were over 6,000,000 students in 50 countries who participated in the competition. In the USA, 6,500 students in grades 1 to 12 took the multiple choice test called Math Kangaroo. There were a total of 988 third grade participants and 987 fourth grade participants in the USA. “We congratulate each of our students for their effort to master mathematical skills and to meet the challenge,” said Head of School Harry V. McKay, Jr. “With our focus on academics and character, we’re proud to have created a supportive environment to foster their success.” Prior to the competition, Saint Andrew’s students were given a math assessment and those who scored in the top five percent of the assessment were invited to participate in the competition.
