Vet on Wheels is now making house calls on Sanibel and Captiva Islands

June 2, 2011 - PRLog -- Dr. Leena Plavumkal has expanded Vet on Wheels services to Sanibel and Captiva Islands. Vet on Wheels is the only full-service mobile veterinary clinic in Lee County that makes house calls to care for small animals and pocket pets. Services include vaccinations, lab tests, surgery, teeth cleaning, microchip, health certificates and at home euthanasia. Patients are typically dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, rats, birds and ferrets. Pet owners often prefer the added convenience of having a veterinarian come to their homes to care for their pets.      

“Most pets, especially cats, are much calmer when treated at home,” says Dr. Plavumkal. “Since they are treated in their own home environment, it is least traumatic and we can concentrate on the care and treatment of the pets without having to first calm them down.” Vet on Wheels charges a reasonable fee associated with the house call, but all other fees are comparable to other veterinary clinics.

Dr. Plavumkal received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Florida at Gainesville in 2001.
