By: Matt Crawford The eight State Cup titles – more than any other Vermont soccer club in 2011 – means about 145 Far Post players and coaches will be heading to Lancaster, Pennsylvania at the end of June representing Vermont in the US Youth Soccer Region I championships. “Fifteen Vermont teams will head to Regionals, and the fact that more than half will be wearing Far Post orange is both humbling and awesome,” said Todd Kingsbury, Director of Soccer for Far Post. “We’re sending a large contingent of talented players, and I’m confident Far Post will represent the entire state of Vermont with passion and pride.” Far Post girls teams winning titles were the U12s, U13s, U14s, U15s, U16s and U19s. On the boys side, the U14 and U19 boys were champs. The eight state cups represent the most Far Post has won in one year – besting last year’s Far Post total by one. “I’m extremely pleased at the effort of all of our teams,” said Kingsbury, “but having six girls teams win State Cups is a tremendous reflection on our entire organization. That’s a huge accomplishment, and one of which the entire Far Post community is proud.” The US Youth Soccer Region I Championships feature top teams in the U12 through U19 age groups from the 15 US Youth Soccer State Associations in Region I. The tournament begins July 1, with opening ceremonies at HersheyPark Stadium in Hershey, Penn. Round robin games will be played July 1-3, with semifinal matches July 4. The US Youth Soccer Region I Champions will be crowned following final games July 5. The state associations represented are Connecticut, Delaware, Eastern New York, Eastern Pennsylvania, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York West, Pennsylvania West, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia and West Virginia. # # # ABOUT FAR POST: Founded in 1996, Far Post is a premier youth soccer club based at the Champlain Valley Exposition in Essex Jct., Vt.
