The exciting concert will take place on Sunday June 12, 2011 at 4pm at CSUDH's University Theater.
By: West Covina Symphony Orchestra Joining forces, CSU Dominguez Hills and the West Covina Symphony, under the direction of Dr. Sylvia Lee Mann, are pleased to present one of the years most extraordinary programs. CSUDH Music Department chair Richard Kravchak is "delighted" that the groups are working hand in hand to present this amazing program. This program features 7 fantastic young musical powerhouses - ages 8 - 17, performing the world's musical masterworks. These are the winners of our 2011 Young Artists Competition, performing the music of Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Rossini, Bloch, Vivaldi, Dvorak, De Beriot and Sarasate Hear the energetic and enduring "Overture to the Barber of Seville", by Rossini, the powerful opening movement of Rachmaninoff's 2nd Piano Concerto, the fiery first movement of Chopin's First piano Concerto, Rossini's classic "opera buffa" virtuoisic aria, "Una Voce, Poco Fa", the delightful De Beriot Violin Concerto and sensational Sarasate "Introduction and Tarantella" for violin, the virtuosic Vivaldi Oboe Concerto in F major, and the beautiful elgeaic "Schelomo" Hebraic Rhapsody for 'Cello and Orchestra by Ernest Bloch.
