International Auto Racing at OKC with ALMS, Bricktown Hotel Welcomes

Adventure District to Echo with Roaring Engines

ALMS officials and OKC race organizers have agreed to conduct the race in the streets of Adventure District in downtown OKC. These are endurance races of a minimum duration of 6 hours run in the model of the famous annual Le Mans 24 Hours race in France.  It is exciting racing on the track as well as off the track with teams calculating the right strategies for the pit-stops where tires are changed, cars fueled and drivers exchanged. A car is normally raced by two or three drivers who keep alternating.

This is unlike NASCAR, IndyCar and Formula 1. But though ALMS races are longer, they aren’t any less exciting and feature various brands and types of cars – from specially built prototypes that are the fastest (Lola, Honda, Panoz, Audi, Peugeot, Aston Martin) to the expensive production car based GT (Grand Touring) cars such as the Corvette C6.R, Ferrari 458 Italia, Jaguar, Aston Martin, Lamborghini and BMW M3 GTR run by various teams. Adding to the entertainment would be the fact that the OKC round won’t be taking place on a purpose-built circuit but a street course with the walls close by increasing the chances for crashes.
