Local Bus Driver Catches Heat For Dumping Breast-Feeding Mom Off Her Bus

That, being making someone who is breast-feeding on a bus, get off for what the bus driver thought was indecent. Well it in fact happened last Friday in suburban Detroit Michigan.

Sources confirm that bus driver stopped the bus in the middle of traffic, told the mother with child in arms, to leave her bus with no refund. Other passengers in the bus were outraged not only because the way the bus driver kicked the women and child off the bus but because it was an unsafe neighborhood, leaving the women and her newborn to fend for themselves.

“I had him in a football wrap,” Afrykayn Moon of Taylor, Mich. told the paper. “She wasn’t seeing much. Even if Moon’s breast had been exposed, the law in Michigan may have had her covered. "

"A passage in the state’s Home Rule or City Act reads, “A mother’s breastfeeding of her baby does not under any circumstances constitute nudity irrespective of whether or not the nipple is covered during or incidental to the feeding.”

And Michigan isn’t alone. Twenty-seven other states, as well as the District of Columbia, exempt breast-feeding from public indecency laws – and D.C. and 44 states have laws that specifically allow women to breast-feed in any public or private location, according to the National Conference Of  States Legislature website.”

GreenBeanBuddy.com also confirms that the bus company issued a statement saying ” that its drivers would be reminded that riders are allowed to breast-feed” I guess that’s a little to late for some people who already had to walk while breast-feeding their infant child in the summer."

The representatives at Green Bean Buddy  also reported  that Moon is taking a stand and is planning to get  together with other  moms at the bus company’s facilities to stage a rally to raise awareness about the benefits of breast-feeding. They’re calling the event a “nurse-in.”
