Created to commemorate the 2010 Vegas Valley Comic Book Festival and showcase the talents of local writers and artists, Tales from the Boneyard is a 48-page comic book featuring stories set in or connected to the Neon Boneyard, where Pop! Goes the Icon founder Pj Perez happily handed over the $1052.30 check to Las Vegas-Clark County Library District Executive Director Jeanne Goodrich. (Photo is available upon request.) The generous donations of sponsors Alternate Reality Comics, MaximuM Comics, Comic Oasis, Grace City Comics and Frankie's Tiki Room paid for the printing of the comic, enabling 100 percent of the comic's sales to be donated in support of the Vegas Valley Comic Book Festival. Tales from the Boneyard continues to be sold in select local stores, online at http://www.talesfromtheboneyard.com and at comic conventions across the West Coast. In the wake of Tales from the Boneyard's success, a new anthology, the noir-themed Tales from Fremont Street, will debut at this year's Vegas Valley Comic Book Festival, being held on Nov. 5 at the Clark County Library. Once again, the comic will feature all-local talent and all proceeds will benefit the Library District Foundation. For more information on this year's comic and festival, visit http://www.vegasvalleycomicbookfestival.org. # # # Pop! Goes the Icon is a boutique print and online publishing house, specializing in sequential art — both in pamphlet form (comic books) and as online presentations (webcomics) — as well as books, posters, prints and other art collectibles.
